RI State Pre-K Program

RI State Pre-K Program

The RI State Pre-K program serves children in select Rhode Island communities who are age 4 by September 1. The high-quality preschool program is free and is open to families of all incomes, with priority given to low-income families. There are not enough spaces to serve everyone who is eligible so applications are selected by lottery during the summer before the program starts. For more information please visit Early Childhood Education Programs and click on the Pre-K Programs tab.

Use this list to identify programs available in your community. Openings can occur throughout the school year. Children who attend high-quality preschool have stronger social skills, richer vocabularies, and better basic math skills. Applications for the annual lottery are due by July 1.
